I make paintings
Same, same but different
I began this painting in April 2024, shortly after moving into my new apartment. It is heavily inspired by the work of Yiannis Gaitis, a Greek painter known for unique human figures that became the trademark of his work. What started as a simple black-and-white concept gradually transformed into a colourful composition over the span of 1.5 years.
This painting took a long time to complete due to its scale, the level of detail, and the fact that every line was drawn by hand (after several unsuccessful attempts to use tape). Throughout the process, I would paint a section, hang it on the wall for a few days, sit with it, then add more colour. Each time, it seemed to ask for more more colour and so I kept layering and adjusting.
The painting eventually evolved into my own interpretation of Gaitis’ figures, and built around the primary tones of yellow, red, and blue, and with a soft sky-blue background. I’m excited to see how it may continue to evolve if I add even more colour in the future.

‘Controlled Chaos’, 2021
‘Controlled chaos’ is an experimentation of colours, patterns and techniques. I used a variety of techniques, from painting to printing, to embroidery and tiny 3D structures from modelling paste.

‘The spill’, 2021
‘The spill’ is a fun, bold and modern painting originally intended for my living room in Norway. The painting started as just 1 spill (the turquoise spill at the back). Later on, I added more spills on the go over a period of 12 months, until I landed on the current design with 4 spills.

King and Queen, 2018
These 2-part paintings are large-size copies (1:5.5 ratio) of the original King and Queen cards. They were intended to be placed above the head of a double bed in a master bedroom.
